Media technology is easy to show and easy to hide behind. A timeline on a monitor, a camera body, a dashboard: they photograph well and explain little. The useful question is narrower. Does this tool help the story be made, kept and found?
Keep the chain short
Every extra export, login and incompatible file is a place a project stalls. Teams do better with a short chain: capture, edit, review, publish, archive. New tools earn a place when they remove a step or protect the master. They do not earn a place by being new.
The same rule fits a website. Animation, video and high-resolution images are justified when they carry meaning and still load for someone on an ordinary connection. A cinematic page that cannot be used is a still, not a product. Technology, in this practice, is a means of care.
Choose the tool that lets the work survive contact with the real day.
